10 Things I Value

Hello people! Happy summer! Let's jump right into another blog post- this one is fun and interactive so enjoy.
Back in April, my two small group leaders for ACC did a lesson on value. Everyone at some point in his/her life has felt unworthy. We are lost broken people swimming in a world full of sin. Why do our ears tune to the words slipping off sinful tongues? We get in a mindset and believe what people tell us, or what we see on social media (a big one). We see people "living a perfect life." It's been said countless times, but I will say it once more "don't believe everything you see on social media."
A way that my leaders told us to know who you are is to create a "Value List," and over time you add to it. My list was insanely long and super random, but here are 10 things I value from that list:)
1. Sunsets- I would add sunrises, but I am the most non-morning person there can be :-/... Sunsets though, the colors and the peace I receive from just LOOKING at a painted sky amazes me and I love it.
2. Pinterest houses- I hope people know what I mean by this... but I could spend hours pretending to decorate my perfect future home.
3. Mountains- I love everything to do with these huge boulders coming from the ground. The beauty and massiveness puts me in awe. I also love snow and being cold, so that could be why too...
4. Beaches- complete opposite from #3, but for different reasons. Closing your eyes as you sit in that beach chair, hearing far off children playing and the waves crashing, I am overcome with acute nostalgia for my simpler childhood days. The post beach-y showers and family dinners followed by game / movie nights. An easy life.
5. Dogs- must I say more?
6. Fall- probably my favorite season. Perfect temperature, leaves changing, sweaters, blankets, candles, coffee shops, and I guess cause my birthday is then too...
7. Granola- this has 2 parts lol: 1. Granola as in the food- I could eat granola for the rest of my life- YUM<3! 2. Granola as in the people- some of you may be confused by this term, but basically they are nature-y hippy uh usually Jesus lovin people! They seem so cool, so if you consider yourself to be granola please HMU.
8. Tan- I love me some sunkissed skin. I know it's just a shade of skin, but I feel 90 times more confident when I am tan... so I gotta do what I gotta do. Also, love face freckles, yes ma'am.
9. Cameras- this one must be a big shocker and I am not going to elaborate.
10. Summer car rides- windows down and music blasting with not a care in the world.
You may be asking "okay, so what's the point of a Value List?". My sweet leaders said that "once you know what you value, then you can honor who God made YOU to be by honoring what you value." Kinda a mouthful, but basically take time and appreciate the little things that make you happy. As I look over my long list I can come up with 3 adjectives that describe myself: Happiness, Purpose, and Peaceful. Each one streaming from different items listed. Once I have those adjectives, then I know what exactly I like and can begin to move forward.
In today's world we are unknowingly force-fed what we value and don't value. This can result in digging deep holes that in the end come up short and unsatisfied. Find your true happiness, value those items, and value the One, God, who made you the way you are: this mindset will have you feeling worthy and never seeking the approval of those around you.
Hopefully this lil post helped! If you have any questions please feel free to email me or DM me on any social media platform. Bye for now:)
